7 Best Biker Movies of All Time

7 Best Biker Movies of All Time

Everybody has a list, and everybody thinks their list is right. Here is ours. The rule was simple: the movie had to be about riding, not just feature a motorcycle in one chase scene. Some of these are about club life. Some are about what a long ride does to a person. All seven earned their spot.

7. Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man (1991)
Mickey Rourke and Don Johnson play two broke riders trying to save their favorite bar. It bombed in theaters and riders adopted it anyway. The bikes are real, the friendship is real, and the one-liners have been quoted at rallies for thirty years.

6. The Bikeriders (2023)
The newest film on this list and the only one built from real photographs. Based on Danny Lyon's 1960s photo book, it follows a Chicago club from weekend riders to something harder. Austin Butler and Tom Hardy play it straight, no cartoon outlaws.

5. The Motorcycle Diaries (2004)
A young Ernesto Guevara and his friend cross South America on a beat-up Norton 500 that barely holds together. The bike keeps breaking down, which is the most honest part. By the end of the road, the rider is not the same person who started it.

4. The World's Fastest Indian (2005)
Anthony Hopkins plays Burt Munro, a New Zealander who spent years in a shed rebuilding a 1920 Indian Scout, then hauled it to Bonneville and set a record in 1967. It is a garage story, a stubborn-old-man story, and proof that the fastest thing on the salt flats can be older than your grandfather.

3. On Any Sunday (1971)
Bruce Brown's documentary, with Steve McQueen riding in it. No plot, no villains, just the pure joy of riding: flat track, desert, motocross, hill climbs. Ask a room full of riders for the most honest motorcycle movie ever made and this is the one that comes up most.

2. The Wild One (1953)
Marlon Brando on a Triumph Thunderbird, black leather jacket, the whole image in one film. Britain banned it for over a decade because censors worried young men would copy what they saw. They were probably right.

1. Easy Rider (1969)
Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper ride from Los Angeles to New Orleans on chopped Harleys, the Captain America bike leading the way. It made the motorcycle a symbol of freedom for a generation, and no list of biker movies is real without it at the top.

Honorable mention: Wild Hogs (2007)
Four middle-aged guys on a weekend ride. Riders love to argue about this one, and that is exactly why it is here. It is the comedy on a list of serious films, and every group ride has at least one guy living it.
