HONDA ISSUES 2nd RECALL ON GOLDWINGS

COMPANY SAYS IT’S  UNSURE WHAT’S CAUSING THE PROBLEM

Honda Motorcycle Company has issued another recall for 126,000 GL-1800 Goldwings for a problem with the secondary brake master cylinder that has been reported to cause the rear brake to drag, potentially leading to a crash or fire.

Honda originally issued a recall on the affected models (2001-2010, 2012) but continued to receive reports and complaints after dealers made modifications to the bikes.

In documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Honda says that the “root cause (of the problem) has not been determined” and it is continuing to investigate.

Honda will send a letter to owners explaining how to look for the problem. Motorcycles with the defect can be taken to a dealer for inspection. Owners will get a second letter when repairs and replacement parts are available.

Concerned owners should contact American Honda’s customer service line at 1-866-784-1870; and NHTSA is also available at 1-888-327-4236 and safercar.gov.
