Police have made one arrest and say more arrests are forthcoming in a deadly assault in upper Manhattan this past Sunday, September the 29, 2013. In the video posted to YouTube, dozens of motorcyclists surrounded a black Range Rover and beat and cut the driver in front of his wife and 2 year old child. Christopher Cruz, 28, was charged with reckless endangerment, reckless menacing and endangering the welfare of a child.
The SUV driver, 33-year-old Alexian Lien, was with his wife and their 2-year-old child, according to the Daily News. The newspaper says Lien “became the target of the brutal bikers when he accidentally struck one who cut him off on the Henry Hudson Parkway, triggering a wild 4-mile chase, cops said Monday.
In the video recorded on a biker’s helmet camera and later posted on YouTube, one of the bikers appears to nearly stop in front of the SUV on the highway and the two collided. Some of the bikers, apparently angry over the collision, started to confront the driver and, at one point, started to slash his tires.
Seconds later you can see the Range Rover run over several motorcycles which were blocking the SUV on the interstate. Edwin “Jay” Meezee was stuck and remains paralyzed as Lien ran over him in his SUV in his attempt to get away.
The assault from the bikers comes at the end of the video, as one of the bikers remove his helmet and begin smashing the windows, and being joined by another biker before the helmet cam shuts off, or the rest of the video was not uploaded to YouTube.
