motorcycle petA Facebook Photo Contest Offers a Chance to Win a Stay in Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach, Fla. (August 8, 2013) –   People aren’t the only ones who enjoy long motorcycle rides – as it turns out, fluffy companions are also digging the action.  Pets riding along with their owners on motorcycles are becoming a more common sighting during bike events.  In preparation for the 21st Annual Biketoberfest®, the Daytona Beach Area CVB is asking pet-friendly motorcycle enthusiasts to show off their biker pets for a chance to win one of three getaways to Daytona Beach.

The promotion, called Tails & Tailpipes, is a photo contest geared towards bikers and their faithful two and four-legged companions.  Pets can be positioned on a bike, around a bike, wearing biker gear or in another creative way that shows they are truly worthy of being called “bikers.”  Entries will be accepted through the Official Biketoberfest® Facebook Page (https://www.facebook.com/Biketoberfest) from Aug. 1 – Sept. 15, 2013.

There will be first, second and third place prizes for the best biker pet photo submissions with the grand prize of a four-day, three-night stay at the Shores Resort & Spa; admission for two to the Museum of Arts & Sciences; admission for two to the Marine Science Center; admission for two to the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse, a gift card for one Banana Boat ride with Ponce Inlet Watersports and a $25 gift card for the Ocean Deck Restaurant and Beach Club.

In order to make it fun for all involved, the CVB added a twist to this photo competition allowing voters to also have a chance to win.  Two lucky voters will be chosen at random to win one of two available prize packages.  Voting will be open on the Official Biketoberfest® Facebook Page onSept. 16 – Oct. 10, 2013 with a winner being drawn on Oct. 11, 2013.

“This promotion captures the awareness that events like Biketoberfest® cross a variety of demographics and are not limited to the stereotypes of years past. Statistics show that more than 3 in 5 Americans own at least one pet, and we’ve seen some bike enthusiasts first hand at area bike events with their pet in tow,” stated Jeffrey Hentz, President/CEO of the Daytona Beach Area CVB. “Bringing the softer side of motorcycle owners into perspective helps put a different angle on the biker persona.”

The contest ends just before the beginning of the 21st Annual Biketoberfest® sponsored by Amsoil® and GEICO.  This internationally known event happens every October and is set forOctober 17 – 20, 2013.  Biketoberfest® attracts motorcycle enthusiasts from across the United States and Canada for an extended weekend of live music, motorcycle rallies, scenic rides, poker runs and more.
