Honda Recalls CRF1100 Africa Twin Over Wheelie-Control Software Fault
Share
Honda has issued a safety recall for CRF1100 Africa Twin adventure motorcycles to correct an electronic control unit calibration fault that can disrupt power delivery during acceleration.
According to campaign information reported by Dalimss News and American Honda Powersports, the defect causes unexpected intervention from the motorcycle's wheelie-control system. When the software intervenes improperly while the rider is accelerating, the sudden cut or pulsing in power can destabilize the chassis. This sudden disruption creates a loss-of-balance crash risk on paved roads as well as off-road surfaces.
Authorized Honda dealerships will resolve the issue by updating the ECU software. The reprogramming procedure is provided free of charge to customers, regardless of the motorcycle's warranty status.
Owners of CRF1100 Africa Twin models can verify if their specific motorcycle is included in the recall campaign by entering its 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number on Honda's online recall portal.
