Honda Showcases V2X Safety Tech to Cut Fatal Motorcycle Crashes by 2050

Honda Motor Co. has outlined a technical roadmap centered on Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication, establishing a safety target to eliminate traffic collision fatalities involving its motorcycles and automobiles worldwide by 2050.
According to a report from ITS International, the initiative relies on direct wireless communications linking motorcycles with passenger cars. The cooperative system alerts drivers when an approaching two-wheeler is concealed in vehicle blind spots or obstructed at street intersections.
Left-turning vehicles and blind spots at crossings represent the source of most multi-vehicle motorcycle collisions. By establishing active wireless links between vehicles, the system aims to warn drivers before a motorcycle enters a collision path obscured by traffic or physical barriers.
Alongside the communication hardware, Honda demonstrated the technology using interactive digital twin city simulators. The testing environment placed riders into simulated urban traffic scenarios to measure response times and observe how operators interact with the connected warning network.
