Police Investigating Motorcycle Club Shootout In Leesburg

Police are investigating a double-shooting between two motorcycle clubs at Circle K on West Main Street in Leesburg late Saturday.

According to Leesburg police Lt. Joe Iozzi, the incident apparently was related to a dispute between two motorcycle clubs and detectives were still investigating Saturday night.

Both men appear to have been shot three times each, and one of the men was wearing a ballistic vest at the time of the shooting.

The shooting victims have been identified as 41-year-old David R. Donovan and 48-year-old Marc E. Knotts.

Detective Joe Iozzi said “I would like to reiterate that this was an isolated incident which occurred far outside the downtown venue area.”

Leesburg Partnership CEO Joe Shipes told local news reporters he hates to associate the shooting with Bikefest because it was not within its venue, and he added, "We never had an issue in the 21 years of our event."

The Leesburg Partnership organizes Bikefest.

Shipes said the organization works hard to make the downtown an attractive place for everyone to enjoy.

The motorcycle clubs the victims were members of have not been identified.
