Politicians, especially the good ones, like to get out and press the flesh. Over the Labor Day holiday break, one Michigan Senator says he plans to visit 12 counties in 5 days, all from the seat of his Harley-Davidson.
Sen. Gary Peters, D-Bloomfield Township, said Tuesday he will take his Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide on the road during Congress’ Labor Day break and visit 12 Michigan counties over five days to talk about small business and manufacturing growth and expansion of critical infrastructure to support them.
Peters, a member of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee and the Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee, will begin his #RideMI tour in Iosco and Alcona counties in northern Michigan on Monday, Aug. 29.
“There’s nothing better than seeing Michigan’s gorgeous scenery by motorcycle, and I’m excited to kick off this tour that will take me from Michigan’s beautiful lakeshores to our fertile farmlands,” Peters said in a statement. “In the Senate, I want to ensure that I am representing every county in our state, and this tour will allow me to hear directly from constituents and talk with them about how we can support Michigan small businesses and grow our economy in every community.”
