NBC Host Calls Leather Clad Bikers "Losers"

NBC’s Hoda Kotb pissed off a lot of leather-wearing motorcycle riding enthusiasts with an offhand comment about the time she and  Kathie Lee Gifford went to a biker bar,  called Alabama Jacks in 2013.  “We dressed in leather, like a couple of losers really, like at the biker bar,” Kotb said.    Alabama Jacks is located in Key Largo Florida and is a frequent hangout of locals and motorcycle riders.

Bikers took their anger to the Facebook page for the show writing, “Saw the comments made about dressing up like losers in leather and going to Alabama Jacks. You just lost a loser in leather for rating ladies…have fun in your plastic, fake Barbie world!”   Another wrote, "I am seriously offended at Hoda's reference to dressing in leather and going to a biker bar as "dressing as losers". Obviously, she needs to get her head out of her dressing room and look at the facts. We are lawyers, doctors, secretaries, mechanics, military, police, college graduates, mothers, and fathers."

Hoda, Where is your Brain? You apparently are not processing your thoughts , before you shoot them out of your mouth. I have many Friends & family that are Bikers. They have raised so much money for so many different organizations, plus private individuals that needed help.. Most Bikers are very well educated, have very good jobs, and Hearts bigger than anyone around.. For you to put people like that down like you did, tells me I don’t have any respect for you anymore. I don’t wish you any thing bad. But I am a firm Beleiver in Karma. What goes around ,comes around. I just hope you are never in a position to need their help. But you know, If you did need their help, they are such good people, they would be there for you. How sad that you have done such a terrible thing.

Hoda and Kathie Lee need to get off the wine and respect. Everyone in the biker community should contact NBC and file a complaint. Theses two idiots should be ordered to make a VERY public apology to the entire biker community AND Alabama Jacks. They obviosuly have no idea WTF they are talking about.

well it just goes to show how arrogant they really they are. They are in their ivory palace looking at whom they ever want to. In the biker world we will always be more professional then those two, and if cornered our arrogant attitudes will put them in there place.

I don’t see them in fundraisers unless they are paid for their appearance. They don’t support the veterans, disabled people or abused children. They don’t go to places which compromise their overall stature to save a child who is being abused. They don’t roam the inner streets to be sure people are safe and kids are playing in a safe environment.
I guess now is the time to start boycotting NBC period.

Wow, I will never watch these two again. HOW DARE YOU REFER BEING DRESSED IN ALL LEATHER LIKE A LOSER IN A BIKER BAR!!!! You two have no clue. BIKERS ARE NOT LOSERS!!! Do you ladies have a clue how many charities we support with both time and money? WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME EITHER ONE OF YOU LADIES DONATED TO A FAMILY STRUGGLING TO FIGHT CANCER OR FOR THE LOSS OF A CHILD. WHEN IS THE LAST TIME EITHER OF YOU LADIES STOOD IN A FLAGLINE TO SHOW HONOR AND RESPECT TO A FALLEN HERO. Now who is the losers…..it’s not bikers, it’s shallow minded people like these 2.

I am so offended by Hoda’s comment. It is blatant marginalization and stereotyping, and it is done without any thought or wisdom. Hoda you should be so thoroughly ashamed of yourself for making this comment. Yes we wear leather or textile gear, sometimes it is a fashion thing, but generally it is for safety reasons and if you would like to become educated on the facts, please go to www.rockthegear.org and that will give you a graphic explanation as to why a ‘biker’ wears leather. You just lost a viewer and I find your opinion to be ill-informed. As for the character assumptions you make about ‘loser bikers’ I have gone on several fundraising rides, created charity riding events for breast cancer, prostate cancer, women’s empowerment rides, toy runs for kids at Christmas, and was a founding member of a Safety Ride that lobbied the government where I live to create a safer highway for all motorists after 3 motorcyclists were killed by inattentive drivers. I am also a school board trustee, and manage a medical practice, and a part-time motorcycle instructor/riding coach and safety gear advocate.

So I think before you make assumptions about us, you might want to become educated on the biker culture.

So to you Hoda, I politely say “You can bite my leather clad ass!”
