At the EICMA 2026 motorcycle show, Honda introduced Honda SENSING RIDE, an integrated active safety architecture designed specifically for motorcycles. The platform adapts the company's automotive safety technology to provide electronic rider aids using millimeter-wave radar.
According to Honda's global corporate announcement, the system incorporates dual millimeter-wave radar units positioned at the front and rear of the motorcycle. The sensor array supports collision avoidance warning, blind-spot monitoring, operational mitigation assistance, and adaptive cruise control, working to identify road hazards and help prevent collisions.
The SENSING RIDE platform is fully integrated with Honda's automatic Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT). By connecting radar inputs directly to the DCT powertrain management, the system coordinates automatic shifting and speed regulation during adaptive cruising, helping reduce rider fatigue on long-distance touring rides.
Honda confirmed that the technology will make its production debut as standard equipment on the 2027 CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports. Following the adventure model's launch, the manufacturer plans to expand the radar platform into additional motorcycles across its touring and commuter lines.
