KTM Recalls Super Duke Models for Loose Steering Dampers

If you ride a KTM Super Duke with an accessory steering damper, your bike may be heading back to the shop. KTM North America filed a safety recall in the U.S. for certain 2020 through 2026 KTM Super Duke R and Super Duke Evo motorcycles fitted with an aftermarket factory damper.
The recall covers Müller Präzision accessory steering damper part number 16181T01E under NHTSA Campaign Number 26E071000. Normal riding vibrations can cause the mounting hardware on the damper to loosen over time. If those mounting bolts back out, the damper can bind up or detach completely while you are riding.
A failing damper is a serious hazard on high-power streetfighters like the Super Duke. Steering dampers keep the front end stable at speed. If the assembly separates or binds while in motion, riders face severe handling degradation or a sudden loss of control that can cause a crash.
Authorized KTM dealers will fix the issue free of charge. Technicians will apply medium-strength thread-locking compound to the mounting hardware and torque the bolts down to revised factory specifications. Check with your local KTM dealer to find out if your bike has the recalled part installed.
